
Mutahi Kagwe is back on the government
Mutagi Kagwe is 66 years old, He is married to Ann Wanjiku and has 4 children. He was born and grew up in Mukurweini in Nyeri County. He attended Kihate Primary School and sat his O levels at Kagumo High School.
After high school, Kagwe went to the University of Nairobi where he studied insurance law before furthering his education at the United States International University (USIU) Where he undertook a master’s degree in business administration.
He was also doing private business at the time. He rose to the position of commercial director before launching a small independent publishing house and later a public relations company.
In 2005, the late President Mwai Kibaki appointed Kagwe to his cabinet as the Minister of Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT). He returned five years later in 2013, gunning for a seat at the Senate on a Narc Party ticket.
In 2017, He announced his bid for the Nyeri Gubernatorial seat on a Jubilee party ticket but lost. In 2019, he was appointed to the Board of( EPRA), the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority.
IN 2020, Former president Uhuru Kenyatta reshuffled his cabinet and nominated Mutahi Kagwe as the Minister of Health. On December 19th, 2024 President William Ruto appointed Mutahi to be the Minister of Agriculture and livestock Development.
