Kikuyu MP and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah is mourning the death of his father, Mzee Isaac Ichung’wah Ngugi.
Mzee Ngugi passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Thursday, September 4, 2025, at their family home in Kikuyu, Kiambu County. He was 105 years old.
He had been admitted to Karen Hospital for a week but was discharged the previous week to continue his recovery at home.
The sad news was first announced by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, who described the death as a great loss and sent condolences to the family.

President William Ruto also mourned Mzee Ngugi, calling him an industrious businessman and one of the founders of Kikuyu Town. The President praised his work in helping the community and supporting the vulnerable.
Funeral arrangements are already underway. The family has announced that they will begin receiving condolences from Tuesday, September 9, 2025, and will share more details about the burial in the coming days.
