Ferdinand Waititu
Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has suffered another blow after the High Court refused to cancel his 12-year jail sentence over a KSh588 million corruption case.

Lady Justice Lucy Njuguna made the ruling on Tuesday, September 16. She rejected an application filed on August 28, 2025, where Waititu had asked the court to set aside his sentence.
The court sided with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), who opposed Waititu’s release, saying his appeal had no solid grounds.
Last month, Waititu was freed on a KSh53 million bond as he waited for the hearing of his appeal. In that appeal, he argued that the trial court had made mistakes in law and fact. The bond allowed him to stay out of prison during the appeal process.
However, this new ruling means Waititu will continue to serve his sentence at Kamiti Maximum Prison. He also failed to meet strict bond rules that required him to deposit a KSh53 million bank guarantee.
