Zacharia Kariuki aka Mr. KK mwenyewe
Comedian Zacharia Kariuki, popularly known as Mr. KK Mwenyewe, has sadly passed away while receiving treatment at Kiambu Level 5 Hospital. Known for his humorous skits imitating Deputy President Riggy G, KK’s untimely death has shocked many and left a big gap in Kenya’s comedy scene.

According to his mother, KK started feeling unwell on Sunday after noticing a painful swelling in his throat, which made it difficult for him to swallow, especially hard food. Despite this, he continued trying to eat and go about his day. His mother visited him that same day and, upon seeing his condition, promised to return with money for his SHA cover so he could begin proper treatment.

On Monday morning, KK appeared to be doing better, but his condition suddenly worsened in the afternoon. Around 5 PM, his friends noticed that he was vomiting, shivering, and his skin and eyes had turned yellow—a possible sign of liver failure, jaundice, or a severe infection. His friends Kafengo and videographer Mike quickly rushed him to Afia Medical Center in Kirigiti, but when his condition continued to deteriorate, he was referred to Kiambu Level 5 Hospital, where he passed away.
The likely cause of death is suspected to be a serious throat infection or tumor, which may have led to airway blockage, septic shock, or organ failure. KK’s mother explained that his illness came on suddenly and progressed very fast. By the time other friends and family reached the hospital, the body had already been placed in the morgue, and due to frequent handling, they were advised not to view it too much to preserve its condition.
KK Mwenyewe rose to fame for his relatable and funny online videos, especially those mimicking public figures with a touch of wit and creativity. His talent brought joy to thousands, and his loss has triggered an outpouring of grief from fans, fellow comedians, and the online community.
As we mourn, we ask for prayers and support for his grieving family—his parents, siblings, and friends.
🕊️ May the soul of Mr. KK Mwenyewe rest in peace.
