Zaitun Kavaya,
Domestic workers in Kilimani have protested following the death of Zaitun Kavaya, a 54-year-old house help. Zaitun reportedly died after falling from the fourth floor of an apartment where she worked. Her family is demanding justice, saying she may not have jumped willingly.

On the day she died, Zaitun had gone to clean and do laundry at her employer’s home. Reports say an argument started over KSh 5,000 that was missing from the employer’s clothes. Later that day, she was found on the ground with serious injuries. A post-mortem revealed multiple injuries, raising suspicions of foul play.

Police have arrested four Sudanese nationals linked to the case. They are being held at Kilimani Police Station as investigations continue. Domestic workers and human rights groups are calling for a full investigation and better protection for house helps across the country.
