Thika Level V Hospital
Thirty mothers who recently faced challenges accessing maternity services at Thika Level V Hospital due to Social Health Authority (SHA) registration issues have now been granted full waivers by the County Government of Kiambu.
The mothers, who were admitted despite lacking SHA registration, unpaid fees, or valid identification documents, received immediate medical attention. The hospital prioritized their health and that of their newborns, with payment matters addressed later.
By September 27, 2025, all waivers had been processed, ensuring that the mothers were discharged safely without the burden of unpaid bills.
Speaking on the development, Kiambu County CECM for Health, Dr. Elias Maina, affirmed the County’s commitment to maternal and child health.
“No mother should be denied healthcare at such a critical moment. Our priority is to safeguard lives, and we are glad that these mothers went home healthy and relieved,” he said.
Dr. Maina, however, urged residents to register with the Social Health Authority to ensure seamless service delivery in the future.
“We encourage all families to complete their SHA registration so that hospitals can serve them more efficiently,” he added.
The County Government of Kiambu reiterated that the initiative reflects its continued investment in accessible, compassionate, and quality healthcare for all.
