DCP candidate Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru has been elected the new Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou Constituency after winning the by-election with 35,440 votes.

UDA’s Samuel Muchina Nyagah came second with 5,450 votes.
The results were announced at 5am on Friday, July 17, by IEBC Returning Officer Antony Njiraine, who declared Sammy Waweru the duly elected MP

The victory gives the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) its first parliamentary seat and marks a major political victory for party leader and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Gachagua congratulated the people of Ol Kalou and thanked those who led the campaign, including Nyandarua Senator John Metho and Naivasha MP Wanjiku Muhia.

Following the victory, Sammy Waweru is expected to lead a thanksgiving tour of Ol Kalou today.
“To the people of Ol Kalou, I promise to serve you diligently and to the best of my ability,” Sammy Waweru said.


Meanwhile, UDA candidate Samuel Muchina has conceded defeat in the Ol Kalou by-election and thanked residents for their support. He also pledged to work with MP-elect Sammy Waweru to serve the people of Ol Kalou.
