Eight subject minors charged over the deadly Utumishi Girls Academy dormitory fire have pleaded not guilty to 16 counts of murder.
The students appeared in court and denied all the charges.
During the hearing, the judge directed that they be referred to as “subject minors” instead of suspects.

The court also denied them bail and ordered that they remain in custody until September 22, when it will rule on their bail application.
The case will now move to the trial stage, where prosecutors are expected to present their evidence.
