President William Ruto has made key changes within the ranks of Principal Secretaries (PSs) and appointed new leaders to represent the country in various foreign missions. Amos Gathecha has been promoted from Principal Secretary of Public Service to Deputy Head of the Public Service. Prof. Edward Kisiang’ani has been appointed as Senior Advisor and a Member of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors. Ms. Regina Akoth Ombam will now serve in the State Department for Trade, while Mr. Cyrell Wagunda Odede moves to the State Department for Public Investments & Assets Management. Dr. Caroline Wanjiru Karugu will lead the State Department for East African Community Affairs, and Dr. Oluga Fredrick Ouma will head the State Department for Medical Services within the Ministry of Health. Mr. Ahmed Abdisalan Ibrahim is now part of the State Department for National Government Coordination, and Ms. Judith Naiyai Pareno has been appointed to handle Justice, Human Rights, and Constitutional Affairs. Dr. Bonface Makokha is the new head of the State Department for Economic Planning, while Prof. Abdulrazak Shaukat will oversee the State Department for Science, Research, and Innovation. Mr. Stephen Isaboke is now in charge of the State Department for Broadcasting & Telecommunications, and CPA Carren Ageng’o Achieng is leading the State Department for Children Welfare Services. Mr. Aden Abdi Millah will head the State Department for Shipping & Maritime Affairs.
In addition to these appointments, there are several key reassignments. Prof. Julius Bitok will now handle the State Department for Basic Education, Ms. Teresiah Mbaika is reassigned to the State Department for Aviation & Aerospace Development, and Mr. Ismael Madey will take on duties at the State Department for Special Programmes. Mr. Harry Kimtai is moving to the State Department for Mining, while Mr. Elijah Mwangi is now with the State Department for Sports. Dr. Belio Kipsang will lead the State Department for Immigration & Citizen Services.
Several individuals have been appointed to represent Kenya in key foreign missions as part of these changes. Susan Nakhumicha Wafula will serve as the Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission of Kenya to the UN-Habitat in Nairobi. Mr. James Buyekane Muhati has been appointed as the Consul-General in Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China. At the same time, Mr. Abdi Dubat Fidhow will serve as the Consul-General in Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania. Eng. Peter Tum is the new Ambassador to Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Alfred Ombudo K’Ombundo will serve as the Deputy Head of Mission in Brussels, Belgium. Mr. Geoffrey Eyanae Kaituko has been appointed as the Deputy Head of Mission in Rome, Italy. These changes reflect President Ruto’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Kenya’s leadership both domestically and internationally.
