Irungu Kangata
Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata has come under fire after an explosive exposé by NTV linked him to a compensation scandal involving the tragic 2019 Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET302 crash, which killed 157 people, including 32 Kenyans.
According to the report, Kang’ata is accused of forging death certificates and falsely presenting them as belonging to victims of the crash. In a further twist, individuals listed as relatives of the deceased were allegedly staff members from his Senate office at the time, raising serious questions about fraud and abuse of office.
The forged documents were reportedly used to lay claim to millions of dollars in compensation that was meant for the bereaved families of real victims. As the investigation deepens, the scandal has sparked outrage, with many demanding accountability and justice for the families who were robbed of their rightful support.
Governor Kang’ata has not yet publicly responded to the allegations, but sources say he has been avoiding the media, even hiding his face in recent public appearances.
