Rigathi Gachagua believes he makes Presidents
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua asserted himself as a key presidential influencer in Kenya’s political landscape.
Speaking during the Sunday interview on KTN News, Gachagua reflected on his past role as Personal Assistant to President Uhuru Kenyatta. He expressed pride in Kenyatta’s decade-long presidency, stating he was pleased to have supported a leader who rose to such prominence.
Gachagua also highlighted his impressive track record of backing winning candidates.
He in an unspoken manner pointed to MP John KaWanjiku’s surprising victory in the fiercely contested Kiambaa by-election as evidence. The relatively unknown KaWanjiku secured the Member of Parliament seat with Gachagua’s backing.

Furthermore, Gachagua’s support of President William Ruto was instrumental in Ruto’s successful bid for the presidency.
This history shapes Gachagua’s confidence that his endorsement in the 2027 elections will determine the next President of Kenya.
However, despite previously supporting President Ruto, Gachagua has now emerged as a vocal critic, openly questioning Ruto’s character and branding him a liar among other negative allegations.
Gachagua is campaigning vigorously to block President Ruto from securing a second term.
