Last year, in November Mwalimu Francis Njiriri was driving along Thika Road when he spotted a man wandering in the middle of the busy road. Vehicles honked as drivers attempted to avoid him, but he continued shouting and speaking incoherently. When Njiriri approached him cautiously, he was startled to recognize the man as comedian Henry Desagu.
The Duke of Mwihoko was one of the very first successful YouTubers in Kenya. At one point he claimed to be making upwards of 800K in a good month.
His command on social media platforms particularly Facebook bagged him multiple brand ambassadorial deals.
Travel, however, was the beginning of his downfall as he moved from creating comedy skits to influencing Kiambu road car-selling companies and travel companies amongst other brands that came his way.
Instead of ploughing money back into his craft he abandoned comedy not knowing that it is what brought him clients.
Soon as his DM’s dried after clients had moved to other influencers he got depressed.
Gatundu North MP Kururia Elijah has launched a campaign to raise one million shillings for Henry Desagu.
