CYRUS JIRONGO
Former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo has died following a tragic road accident that occurred early this morning at around 3:00 a.m. along the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway.
Reports indicate that the car Jirongo was driving was involved in a head-on collision with a Climax Coach bus.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), CCTV footage shows that Jirongo drove into Eagol Petrol Station shortly before the accident but did not refuel. Detectives say the CCTV captured his vehicle entering the station from the Nairobi direction at 2:18:40 a.m.
At 2:19:10 a.m., the vehicle stopped briefly at the station’s exit, and at 2:19:19 a.m., it made a right turn back toward Nairobi. Investigations into his movements before the crash are still ongoing.
A security guard at the petrol station stated that there was no traffic on the highway at the time, which contradicts the account given by the Climax bus driver. The bus driver has since been summoned to report to the Naivasha Traffic Base as part of the investigations.
Jirongo is survived by four wives:
- Joan Chemutai Kimeto
- Christine Nyokabi Kimani
- Ann Kanini
- Ann Lanoi Pertet
The family has agreed that Cyrus Jirongo will be laid to rest at his Lumakanda home in Kakamega County, next to his parents. The burial is tentatively scheduled for 30th December 2025.
His body remains sealed at Lee Funeral Home as forensic investigations continue. The family has said that once the investigations are complete, details about public viewing will be communicated.
