The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has removed Edwin Sifuna as the party’s Secretary General.
In a meeting chaired by party leader Dr. Oburu Oginga, the National Executive Council (NEC) resolved that Sifuna be relieved of his duties. The party said the decision was made in line with its constitution and applicable laws, citing concerns about discipline within the party’s senior leadership.

The decision was confirmed by ODM’s senior leadership after a NEC meeting held on Wednesday, February 11.
Sifuna’s removal comes just a day after he publicly dared the party to remove him and declared that he would never be close to President William Ruto. He also skipped the ODM NEC meeting in Mombasa.
Following his ouster, Sifuna said he had been overwhelmed by messages of support from his supporters. Shortly after the announcement, he took to social media to say that his political tours would continue. His next event is scheduled for Sunday, February 15, in Kitengela.
Among the leaders expected to attend the Kitengela event are Siaya Governor James Orengo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Otsotsi, and Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka.
Meanwhile, Busia Woman Representative Catherine Omanyo, who previously served as the party’s Deputy Secretary General, has taken over the role. She will oversee the party secretariat as ODM prepares for its National Delegates Convention (NDC) set for March 27, 2026.
