Rigathi Gachagua Meets DCP Aspirants
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has met with aspirants seeking to run on the DCP Party ticket in the upcoming Olkalou by-election set for July 16, 2026. The meeting, attended by the party’s National Election Board chairperson and other senior officials, reviewed and confirmed the nomination process scheduled for May 9, 2026.

Gachagua said the aspirants agreed to take part in a free, fair, and credible nomination exercise. They also promised to respect the results and support whoever wins the party ticket. He emphasized that the final decision will be made by the people of Olkalou, not through backroom deals or agreements.
He called on residents to turn out in large numbers on May 9 to choose the DCP candidate, saying the decision will shape their next Member of Parliament. Gachagua also urged all nine aspirants—Wakili Kiragu Wathuta, Isaac Ndirangu, Kevin Ndungu Waweru, James Waithaka Kariuki, Stephen Kimani Muturi, Peter Mwangi Karanja, Paul Waiganjo, Kamau Ngotho, and Gabriel Gatinu Wambui—to conduct peaceful and respectful campaigns. He said whoever wins should have the full support of the others as the party prepares for the by-election.
