Nairobi, 14th January 2026 – Hours after the demolition of Governor Kimani Wamatangi’s private businesses in Nairobi, Kiambu Assembly Majority Leader and Kalimoni MCA Godfrey Mucheke assured the Governor of his reelection.
Speaking boldly at the scene of the demolition, along Aerodrome Road near Nyayo Stadium, MCA Mucheke boldly said in a press briefing that the demolitions were only adding impetus to the reelection of the Governor, and strengthening his leadership.
“Your Excellency, we are here to tell you, even though they have demolished all these structures, you have a firm foundation in our hearts, and this should not shake you and eventually, we shall embarrass them in 2027. This is what we call economic sabotage,” said MCA Mucheke.
He added that the Government was expected to protect lives and property, but it was unfortunate that the Government deployed more than 2000 security officers to oversee the destruction of property.

He said that the fact that Interior Cabinet Secretary Murkomen was spotted during the demolition was unfortunate for the country, and investors.
“It is very sad, and I will say this fearlessly, and we have photos, that no other man, but the minister for Interior was the man supervising this thing. Even telling your own officers that they can go ahead and shoot to kill; we collected LIVE bullets from this venue, and this one is unexpectable,” added Mucheke.
The clergy and members of the county assembly who also came to the scene condemned the destructive work metted against Governor Wamatangi.
