Detectives have linked the killing of PCEA cleric Reverend Julius Ndumia Ngari in Nakuru North Sub-County to a violent armed gang. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations says the gang is also connected to a May 1 robbery in which Ksh 600,000 was stolen from a victim’s bank account and sent to mobile numbers linked to the suspects.

Police say the gang uses a firearm recovered in 2024 and often disguises themselves in security officers’ uniforms.
Two suspects, Beryl Nafula Otenyo and Felix Odinga Okumu, have been detained for 21 days as detectives investigate the May 3 attack at PCEA Tabuga Church, where the cleric was killed and a watchman injured.

Investigators say the attackers broke into the church offices and residence before stealing valuables. Police also say CCTV footage later captured the suspects withdrawing money from the deceased’s mobile accounts.
Detectives are still searching for at least three more suspects linked to the attack.
