Kiambu Senator Karungo Thangwa, and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwah
The Senator of Kiambu County, Karungo Wa Thangwa has been in the forefront supporting the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as a the defacto leader of the Mount Kenya Region.
Senator Karungo has accompanied the DP to different meetings that include church services, and roadside meetings with the public.
The Senator has challenged those leaders belittling the DP, putting him at loggerheads with the National Assembly Majority Leader MP Kimani Ichungwah.
MP Ichungwah has openly spoken against the leadership style of the DP, and fiercely spoken against the Deputy President in different public fora.
MP Ichungwah is the Member of Parliament for Kikuyu Constituency in Kiambu County, while the Senator represents Kiambu County.
During the 2022 campaigns, all these leaders, DP Rigathi, Senator Karungo and MP Ichungwah were sailing in the same boat of the UDA Party.
As the 2027 general elections are still afar off, many political questions and dynamics remain to be seen to see whom will be the defacto leader come the 2027 campaigns and elections.
