A solemn vigil was held on Sunday evening in Karuri Ward, Kiambaa Municipality, as hundreds of mourners gathered to pay their last respects to Peter Njiri Ruguru, a protocol officer at the Executive Office of the Governor of Kiambu County, H.E. Kimani Wamatangi.

The emotional gathering brought together family, friends, colleagues, county staff, and leaders, all united in grief and reflection. Governor Wamatangi led the tribute, alongside Members of the County Assembly (MCAs), including Karuri Ward MCA Peter Wainaina, popularly known as Boxer, and Majority Leader Godfrey Mucheke, who also serves as the MCA for Kalimoni.

Speakers at the vigil remembered the late Njiri as a jovial and dedicated man whose commitment to service stood out in his professional life. A former aspirant for the MCA seat in Karuri Ward under the UDA ticket, Njiri was described as a man of the people—approachable, hardworking, and passionate about community development.
