Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi
Kiambu Governor Dr. Kimani Wamatangi has been named the top performing governor in Kenya for 2025 by research firm Politrack, earning recognition for his ambitious development agenda and hands-on leadership style.
Since taking office in 2022, Governor Wamatangi has rolled out a series of transformative projects aimed at improving healthcare, education, and economic empowerment across the county.
Under his leadership, Kiambu County has embarked on a major building and renovation program for hospitals. This initiative has seen the refurbishment of existing facilities and the construction of new health centres, ensuring residents have greater access to quality medical services. The county has also been upgrading medical equipment and expanding maternity and outpatient wings to ease congestion in public hospitals.

Governor Wamatangi has also prioritized economic empowerment programs, particularly targeting women and youth. Through the distribution of improved Kienyeji chicks to women’s groups, many households have been able to venture into profitable poultry farming. In addition, the county has supplied piglets to youth groups, offering them a sustainable source of income and an entry point into agribusiness.

Recognizing the importance of a strong educational foundation, the governor has overseen the renovation and equipping of all Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres in the county. These upgrades include modern classrooms, learning materials, and improved sanitation facilities, giving Kiambu’s youngest learners a safe and conducive environment to start their education journey.

Governor Wamatangi says his focus is on tangible projects that directly improve people’s lives. “Our work is about impact, not politics. Every new hospital wing, every renovated classroom, and every chick or piglet we distribute is an investment in the future of Kiambu,” he stated.
As the Politrack 2025 rankings highlight, Kiambu’s development under Wamatangi is setting a new standard for county leadership proving that with the right priorities and accountability, local government can deliver real change.
