Susan Nabwire and Cyprian Mukoye
Police in Nairobi are investigating a shocking incident in Pipeline estate where a man allegedly killed his wife and raped their househelp.
The victim, 27-year-old Susan Nabwire, worked as an M-Pesa agent at Nairobi’s Country Bus Station. Her family says the fight started over an M-Pesa PIN.
Susan’s mother, Phylis Makokha, said the man, Mukoye, came home and asked for food, which the househelp served. He didn’t eat. Susan arrived later from work, and that’s when Mukoye asked for her M-Pesa phone PIN. She refused to give it to him.
The couple argued all night until around 3 a.m. when Susan was preparing to leave for work. Mukoye refused to return her phone, went to the bathroom, and came back with an axe.
“He hit Susan twice on the neck with the axe. She fell near the househelp, who screamed for help,” Phylis said.
Mukoye kept attacking Susan until she died, then hid her body under the bed. He allegedly raped the househelp, locked the house, and fled.
The man had earlier accused Susan of cheating, but she denied the claims.
