Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi
Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has raised concern for his safety after a bullet was fired near his home in Kibiku village, Kabete. The bullet pierced a neighbour’s roof and landed inside a children’s bedroom, causing fear and tension in the area.

Residents who saw the scene said the shot may have been aimed in the direction of the governor’s residence and urged the government to strengthen his security.
“The only person who could be targeted, from the direction the bullet came from, is our governor. We request the government to beef up his security,” a resident said.
Governor Wamatangi said the bullet appeared to have been fired from a powerful weapon, possibly an AK-47, from about 200 meters away. He called on police to investigate the shooter, the location, and the motive behind the incident.
“We need to know who shot, where he was, and the motive. The bullet is here and can be investigated,” he told journalists.
The governor has been facing a difficult political environment, with some local MPs and leaders openly opposing his administration. According to people close to him, he has recently received threats from certain Kiambu leaders, raising further concerns as investigations continue.

Wamatangi has also claimed in the past that powerful cartels within the county government — who benefited from corruption before he took office — have been threatening him. In addition, a group of Kiambu MCAs has repeatedly pushed for his impeachment, which he and his supporters say is politically motivated.
Police are now investigating the shooting as leaders and residents call for enhanced security around the governor.
