- Kimani Wamatangi, UDA Party, leads in all opinion polls because of his work at the Senate and 16 years running a community foundation in Kiambu County.
- James Nyoro, Jubilee Party, the incumbent comes second but behind Wamatangi with a huge margin because of his colourless and non-performance during his term in office.
- William Kabogo, Tujibebe Wakenya Party, the first Governor of Kiambu County whom the people voted out because of pride and arrogance, and also non-performance and lack of creative and innovative ideas in leadership. He overtaxed the people, bought luxurious cars and did cosmetic work in hospitals that fell apart upon his exit.
- Wainaina Jungle, Independent, has served one term as MP for Thika whom people were urging to run for the position for the second term so he can mature in politics.
- Moses Kuria, the Gatundu South MP, whose has ripped apart his character and image as a leader through abusive and vulgar language, lack of respect for women, accusations of ‘eating’ CDF money, causing chaos and violence, drunkenness, among other unmentionable behaviours.
- Mwende Gatabaki, a newcomer in politics and lovely wife to Economist David Ndii. She is brilliant and has clarity of thought, but has not cut her teeth into the murky world of politics in Kenya.
