What have you learnt from The Motion fronted in the Parliament of kenya??
Kenya’s Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is facing impeachment after the National Assembly overwhelmingly voted in favor of the motion on October 8, 2024. The vote saw 281 MPs supporting the move, surpassing the two-thirds majority required. Gachagua is accused of various offenses, including corruption, undermining President William Ruto, inciting ethnic tensions, and supporting anti-government protests in June 2024.Despite denying all allegations, Gachagua has described the charges as political propaganda intended to oust him from office. The impeachment motion now proceeds to the Senate for final approval. If the Senate upholds the motion, Gachagua will be the first deputy president in Kenya’s history to be impeached under the 2010 constitution.
