Aroti organisation meeting in Thika, Akorino faithful
Thika, Kenya – Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has called on the Akorino faithful to adopt a progressive approach toward economic and educational development, urging them to invest in learning institutions for the empowerment of the community.
Speaking during a national prayer day organized by the Aroti organisation in Thika, Governor Wamatangi commended the Akorino for their longstanding religious presence in Kenya. However, he challenged them to follow the example of other religious groups who have successfully established influential institutions across the country.

“You have been here longer than many other denominations, but your contribution to economic and institutional development does not match your history,” said the Governor, referencing the Catholic, Protestant, Presbyterian, and Methodist churches, which have built universities, colleges, and high schools and are now among Kenya’s significant landowners.
He encouraged the Akorino to embrace a development-oriented mindset that focuses on uplifting their congregants through education and other socio-economic initiatives.
As part of his support, Governor Wamatangi pledged KSh 2 million in seed capital to boost the Aroti organisation’s Sacco. He also offered 20 acres of land to support the organisation’s development agenda, reiterating the role of education and enterprise in transforming communities.
The event brought together thousands of Akorino faithful from across the county and marked a renewed call for economic empowerment through faith-based initiatives.
