Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei commended Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi for his leadership in healthcare and revenue collection
Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei commended Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi for his leadership in healthcare and revenue collection, urging him to tune out political detractors during an appearance before the Senate County Public Accounts Committee (PAC) led by Migori Senator Moses Kajwang.
Senator Cherargei, addressing Wamatangi and his county officers directly, highlighted the governor’s passion for healthcare as a key success of devolution.
“Governor, I can see and can say, well done. I am impressed by your passion towards healthcare. I have ever seen this Kikuyu Level 4 Hospital, and I think there is another in Kahawa West. These is a reminder that devolution is a success,” said Senator Cherargei.

He emphasized resilience amid criticism, advising the governor to prioritize public service.
“Governor, ignore the noise, the political noise; focus on serving the great people of Kiambu. Ignore the people who want to bring you down by even attacking your persona and interests. Ignore them. Just focus on the people of Kiambu; why the people of Kiambu elected you,” he added.
The Senator spoke just weeks after the Governor’s private business, which he had established over a period of 40 years was demolished at night under heavy security and alleged presence of a powerful cabinet secretary and also MP.
Senator Cherargei and others in the committee sympathized with the millions in losses that Governor Wamatangi suffered.

The Senator also pointed to tangible progress in county finances, noting steady growth in Own Source Revenue (OSR).
“And we are proud, even I have seen your Own Source Revenue (OSR), there is a steady growth in OSR. So, Governor we are very proud of what you are doing,” he said.
