Kiambu rose to the top again as DIMKES DT Sacco won nine awards during Ushirika Day 2026 celebrations recognizing the best-performing SACCOs in Kenya.
This was during the national awards dinner, attended by Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki, Dimkes received seven national awards. At the county ceremony held at Ndumberi Stadium, the SACCO picked up two additional county-level awards.
The National awards included:
- Best Performing DT Sacco among Community-Based SACCOs
- Best DT Sacco in Credit Management among Community-Based SACCOs
- Best DT Sacco in Risk Management among Community-Based SACCOs
- Best DT Sacco in Technology Optimisation among Community-Based SACCOs
- Most Improved DT Sacco among Community-Based SACCOs
- 2nd Most Efficient DT Sacco among Community-Based SACCOs
- 2nd Best DT Sacco in Deposits Management among Community-Based SACCOs
And the County awards were:
- Highest Dividend Payout
- Overall Best SACCO in Kiambu Sub-County
Interestingly, DIMKES DT Sacco was founded by members of the Mothers’ Union in 1999 who began by saving KSh100, and 26 years later, the Sacco is worth BILLIONS.
Since inception 1999, the Sacco only banked women until the year 2010 when it was licenced and opened the common bond, including and empowering all financially in the society through different financial products that include a loan purchase/buy off, mkulima loans, business loans, development loans, and plot purchase among others.
The acronym DIMKES stands for Diocese of Mount Kenya South, and the slogan of the institution is my faithful financial partner.

The SACCO is currently led by CEO Benson Maina, who the organisation credits with steering it to greater heights through professionalism, integrity and hard work.
The SACCO now operates branches in Kiambu, Nairobi and Kajiado counties and also banks the diaspora and young savers (children).
